The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has signed up to a pledge which aims to raise aspirations and encourage more people to take up a career in healthcare.
Talent for Care is a tool which allows the hospital to work with unions to help develop the skills of its existing workforce while also attracting teenagers to join the ranks.
Chief Executive Dorothy Hosein and Joint Staffside Committee Chairman Darren Barber signed the Talent for Care pledge on Wednesday, October 26.
Mrs Hosein said: “Our dedicated staff are the hospital’s most important commodity and it is important that we provide them with the training and career pathways in order to progress.
“The hospital has a strong apprenticeship programme and we are also running a number of successful recruitment campaigns.”
Talent for Care, introduced by Health Education England, provides guidance to organisations on how to increase the skills of staff who support the clinical teams.
One of the aspirations is to develop career pathways for staff in Bands 1-4.
Mr Barber said: “I support Talent for Care as it is a good governance and work tool to help raise aspirations and to deliver the right kind of training for the health care sector. “
