A grandfather who battled against cancer has said thank you to doctors and nurses at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, who saved his life.
Jeff Turner along with his wife Carol and three-year-old grandson Kaiden handed over a cheque to Dr Pattabirmaman Maheshkumar and urology nurse Claire Harvey at Feltwell ward.
Mr Turner and fellow players in the dominoes team at Heacham Social Club opted to make the £70 donation to the hospital rather than receiving trophies after coming second in the Lighthouse Bulb Darts and Domino League and the League and Domino Cup.
The Snettisham man, who also has seven-year-old granddaughter Keira, had an operation in May last year. He said: “I wanted to thank the team for what they have done for me. I was treated by Mr Alan Eaton and he was marvellous, very understanding. If it wasn’t for Mr Eaton, I would not be here now.”
The donation is hoped to be used in training and education projects.
