A banger driving family raised £1,100 for the Breast Care Unit in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a van race.
Stuart Green as well as his two sons, Ben and Josh, took part in the Crash for Cancer event to raise money on the August Bank Holiday weekend through van banger racing at Trackstar’s Adrian Flux arena.
Mr Green came out of retirement to race alongside his sons who had followed in his footsteps, who have recently moved up into the adult formula from the junior bangers. The family have been involved in racing for over 20 years.
The event, which took place on the August Bank Holiday weekend, also featured other formulas of racing; such as the national Reliant Robin final and team racing for the banger drivers at the Trackstar event.
There is another fundraising event being held by Trackstar on Saturday, 29 October, featuring a £6000 firework display, as well as other ranging forms of racing and entertainment.
Organisers are hoping local businesses will support the Halloween fundraising by sponsoring a race, donating raffle prizes or baking Halloween themed cakes which will be sold for the charities. To sponsor a race contact 01553 771111.
