Teeing off for Breast Care

Ryston Park Golf Club’s year of fundraising, for The Breast Care Unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, has come to an end, raising a grand total of £2,475.

The fundraising took place in many different ways with members taking part in; wear it pink days, raffles, donations as well as a member taking on 72 holes of golf.

Activities took place from February in 2016 to 2017 with the Breast Care Unit being chosen as the recipient of the proceeds due to its services being used by both members of the club and their families.

The club donates funds yearly to a different charity or organisation with them choosing the Breast Care Unit this year. They had previously donated to the Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Centre in 2014.

Tracey Russell the clubs Ladies Captain said: “My mother received excellent care in her time there and it’s great to support the local hospital and to benefit a unit beneficial to the Ladies Club and the area.”

Amy Burger, Consultant Breast and Reconstructive Surgeon, said: “This unit and the new equipment wouldn’t be possible without the help and fundraising we receive. We are very grateful for the donation which is most likely going to go towards new Biopsy equipment.”
