Fundraising in memory of Michelle

Rosemary Durrant has been fundraising in memory of her daughter Michelle Sherwood for 25 years, with her most recent fundraising being an open event in her own peaceful garden, raising £300 for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s, Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Centre.

Rosemary held a tombola and cake sale, drawing in support from all of her community in Wimbotsham.

Michelle was a Nurse at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital before she passed away due to Cancer when she was 25 years old in 1992.

Since then Rosemary has supported the Macmillan unit, attending the opening of the Unit whilst also continuing her support.

Mrs Durrant said: “We have a received some very generous donations from the community and it is amazing to see the Unit. I would just like to thank everyone for the help in organising the event as well as coming along, in particular my daughters Anne and Victoria along with my grandson Liam.”

Dawn Slack, Lead Cancer Nurse, said: “We are really grateful for the donations over the years from Rosemary. We will be hoping to put this money towards some new pictures around the Unit for the patients.”
