A joint milestone birthday party has helped to raise hundreds of pounds to support the cancer patients at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Cousins Lizzie Hurrell and Elaine Woods marked their 50th birthdays with a party in Wisbech St Mary Community Centre on September 30.
During the event, the 300 guests were able to put money in a box which made £600 for the Hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Centre.
They were inspired to raise money for the unit after Miss Hurrell’s mother Rosemary’s battle against lung cancer.
Miss Hurrell, of Wisbech St Mary, said: “We were really pleased with the amount raised.”
Mrs Woods, who also lives in Wisbech St Mary, said: “We wanted the money to be used specifically in this area.”
The cousins presented the money to Specialist Nurses Charlotte Johnson and Verity Connolly.
