Family with strong NHS links donates money in memory of Hedy

A family with several connections to the NHS has presented the proceeds of a funeral service collection to a charitable fund at the QEH.

Hedy Walduck, who was being treated here for cancer, died at home in Heacham earlier this year after a short, unrelated illness. She was 88.

Mrs Walduck was first diagnosed with cancer 25 years ago but had been in remission until about four years ago.

Daughter Joanne Day and granddaughters Gemma Wilson and Diana Kerry presented £619 to Dr Margaret Daly on behalf of the hospital.

Mrs Day, who used to be a nursing auxiliary at QEH, said: “Mum was so pleased with Dr Daly’s kindness and care, and the day centre staff were brilliant with her too.

“She would have been very pleased with the amount collected and the cause it is going to.”

Mrs Wilson is an advanced clinical practitioner at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Mrs Kerry is a senior mental health nurse, based at Thurlow House in King’s Lynn.
