Open garden day for Macmillan unit in memory of daughter

The memory of a QEH nurse was marked again with a donation to our Macmillan Care and Treatment Centre.

Michelle Sherwood died of cancer in 1992 aged 25, and her mother, Rosemary Durrant, has been fundraising since. A charity which Mrs Durrant set up in her daughter’s memory donated £10,000 to help the QEH unit open.

On Tuesday (Aug 14), Mrs Durrant (84) presented the £205 proceeds of a garden open day, with cream teas and tombola, held at her home in Chapel Lane, Wimbotsham.

She said: “I’d like to thank my family and friends for their help and support.”
