Festival garden party hits the right note with £2,452 raised for West Norfolk Breast Unit

A King’s Lynn couple organised a festival garden party to say thank you to the West Norfolk Breast Care Unit.

Deanna and Nick Wright have donated £2,452 by transforming their garden into a festival site, complete with music tents and a wellie-wearing audience but minus the mud.

They were compelled to give something back following Deanna’s successful treatment at the unit.

Deanna underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy after discovering a 4cm lump in February last year.

Thankfully, the lump had disappeared within the first few sessions of chemotherapy.

Deanna said: “I am one of the lucky ones as the chemotherapy reduced the lump in the first session and they had to use a tag to highlight where it was.

“We wanted to give something back as I have been lucky with my treatment. My goal was £1,000 so I’m really happy to more than double that.”

The couple encouraged guests to get into the festival spirit by wearing wellies and also having their make-up done at one of the stalls.

A Jazz singer started off the evening with a disco to follow.

A number of games, including Splat the Rat and the Coconut Shy, were also popular with guests along with a raffle.

The couple presented the money to Consultant Breast Surgeon Rachael Johnson and Specialist Nurse Gemma Harnwell, who treated Deanna.

Deanne and Nick would like to thank everyone for their support and donations on the night.
