Selfless mum gives birthday money to the QEH

A selfless King’s Lynn woman has raised hundreds of pounds for cancer patients by asking for donations instead of presents.

Edith Brown did not want presents for her 82nd birthday or Mother’s Day but asked for her family and friends to make donations to the Cancer Care and Treatment Fund at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Edith and her family went along to the hospital’s Macmillan Unit to hand over the £355 cheque to Matron Dawn Slack.

Edith said: “They kept asking me what I wanted for my birthday and I couldn’t think of anything so I thought it would be nice to give something back to the QEH.”
