Patients, visitors and staff at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH) will be required to continue adhering to COVID-19 rules beyond the 19 July.
Rules around social distancing, hand washing, face coverings, and visiting will remain in place at the Trust, as the country reaches the final stage in the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Each inpatient at QEH is allowed one nominated visitor, who can visit for one hour per day. Patients must attend alone to outpatient appointments and the Trust’s Emergency Department and Acute Assessment areas. Exceptions apply to visitors accompanying a child or vulnerable patient with learning disabilities, autism or dementia, and patients who are critically ill or receiving end-of-life care.
Staff, patients and visitors will still be expected to wash or sanitise their hands on arrival at the hospital and ward; and must always wear a face covering, including when entering and moving through the hospital. Additional PPE continues to be required in high-risk areas or around patients with suspected or known COVID-19.
Visitors should cover any cuts on their hands, follow social distancing rules, and will be asked to provide their details for NHS Test and Trace. Visitors who have tested positive or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, should not visit, to ensure everyone’s safety.
Where relatives are unable to visit in-person, the Trust continues to facilitate virtual visits, including via phone, video calls, and messages.
Alice Webster, Chief Nurse at QEH, said: “There is optimism as the country approaches its final stage of easing restrictions on 19 July, however the pandemic is not over and in line with other hospitals in the region, QEH is taking this next step very carefully. The safety of our patients, their families and our staff is our top priority and we are appealing to visitors to respect our rules. We will continue to regularly review these measures which are in place to protect everybody.”
