The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH) has now delivered over 100,000 vaccinations since the start of its COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The Trust opened its dedicated COVID-19 Vaccination Hub at the QEH site on 30 December 2020 and launched an additional centre at Downham Market Town Hall on 15 March 2021. In response to the threat of the new variant, and in line with vaccination sites across Norfolk and Waveney, the QEH team is accelerating its COVID-19 booster drive.
In addition to first and second doses of vaccine, the team is now administering booster doses to those aged over 18, in line with Government policy. Members of QEH’s own workforce have also received three doses of vaccine with 70.6% of staff having received a booster so far.
Caroline Shaw CBE, Chief Executive at QEH, said: “To reach this milestone is a fantastic achievement. I’m incredibly proud of the way that Team QEH has pulled together throughout the busiest time in the history of QEH – and the wider NHS – to deliver a vaccination programme which has been central to our fight against COVID-19 and keeping our patients, staff and local community safe.”
Boosters are currently being provided through pre-booked appointments only and can be booked through the national booking service by visiting nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19.
