COVID-19 boosters on offer for eligible people

The Vaccination Team at The QEH is geared up to administer COVID-19 vaccines to eligible people in West Norfolk and surrounding areas this autumn.

The vaccine provides vital protection to provide the best possible protection from COVID-19 and helps prevent people from ending up in hospital during busy winter months.

People most at risk including adults who are aged 65 and over and people who are immunosuppressed will be among those who are eligible for this year’s autumn booster.

Pregnant people and health and social care staff will also be among the groups to be offered a COVID-19 vaccination this winter.

Those in eligible cohorts are now able to book an appointment via the National Booking Service.

This year flu jabs will be offered to the public via their GP Surgery and local pharmacies.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) says the following groups should be offered a Covid booster jab this autumn:

  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • adults and children aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group, which includes pregnant people
  • frontline health and social care workers

Pippa Street, Chief Nurse at QEH, said: “I encourage everyone who is eligible to get their COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. These provide you with personal protection and support your wellbeing. Importantly it will also aid in the health protection of our local communities.”
