Over 150 families have already been supported at the new Peddars way unit – bringing comfort, dignity and compassion to families at a time they need it most.
This tremendous achievement is thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the local community and QEHKL Charity supporters.
This five-bed unit, with all en-suite rooms, is already make a lasting impact on the quality of compassionate care The QEH is able to offer individuals and families at one of the most difficult times in their lives.
The appeal raised funds to add those special finishing touches that have transformed this space into a calming sanctuary.
Each of the rooms are thoughtfully equipped so that family members can spend precious time with their loved ones in comfort for as long as they need to. Designed to feel less clinical, the rooms feature restful, calming lighting and specially commissioned artwork inspired by individual themes – all carefully chosen to create a peaceful, dignified environment.
Emma Clark, Consultant Nurse in Palliative Medicine and Clinical Lead Peddars Way unit, said: “We are truly humbled by the support we’ve received “Every contribution – large or small – has helped us create a space that reflects dignity, comfort and care. Your support is already making a difference to so many families so thank you to each and every donor who has made this possible.”
As the appeal has now surpassed its goal, it will officially close. However, for those still wishing to support the end-of-life unit, donations can continue to be made via the QEHKL Charity website here https://qehklcharity.co.uk/donate-qehkl/donate/.
