THRIVE – which stands for Transforming Healthcare, Reflection, Innovation, Values, Excellence – is the Trust’s bespoke leadership and development programme for early-career healthcare professionals. Designed to build confidence, strengthen clinical and leadership skills, and create a strong sense of belonging within Team QEH, THRIVE supports colleagues as they begin their NHS journey.
The national award recognises the innovation, compassion and dedication behind the programme’s development, and highlights the outstanding work of the Trust’s Education Faculty and its partners.
The winners were announced at a ceremony in London last night (Wednesday 26 November), following what organisers described as one of the most competitive years to date.

Helen Muncey, Head of the Education Faculty, said: “THRIVE is built on passion and purpose – and I could not be prouder of my team, of Nicola Plaatjies and Dr Theresa Shaw, and of everyone across the Trust and NICHE who helped shape this programme. To receive national recognition is incredibly special and a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we invest in our people.”
Pippa Street, Chief Nurse at The QEH, said: “Winning this award is a tremendous honour and showcases the exceptional commitment within our Education Faculty to supporting, empowering and retaining our early-career workforce. THRIVE helps create compassionate, confident and capable healthcare professionals – and this recognition is a testament to the hard work and vision of the whole team. We are absolutely delighted.”
Chris Bown, Interim Executive Managing Director, added: “My warmest congratulations to everyone involved in THRIVE – a remarkable achievement for the Trust.”
This national success marks another milestone in the Trust’s mission to be the best rural District General Hospital for patient and staff experience and reinforces the importance of investing in early-career development to support the future NHS workforce.
