Van banger racers will be giving something back to the Macmillan Cancer Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King’s Lynn.
Veteran banger racer Mick Gedney and friends are returning to the track this August Bank Holiday Monday (August 29). They have organised the ‘Crash for Cancer’ charity event at the King’s Lynn Adrian Flux Norfolk Arena to say a big thank you to the staff at the unit.
Mr Gedney’s father, Colin, had been treated at the unit before sadly losing his battle to cancer three years ago. He said: “Staff at the hospital really looked after my Dad and this is a way to say ‘thank you’. Cancer seems to be more prevalent these days.”
The organisers are hoping to raise money for the cancer care and treatment centre via sponsorship from local businesses for the race meeting. A host of other fundraising activities will be held on the day, which runs from 1pm, including a raffle and cake stall.
Anyone wishing to support the fundraising should contact Mr Gedney by calling 07766 228504 or email mick186gedney@gmail.com
