A Runcton Holme resident decided that his 75th birthday was another opportunity to fundraise for the urology ward at QEH.
Country music fan Les Gaskins – who has regularly organised music festivals with wife Jean – had five bands and a barbecue during an all-day event at the village’s social club. Some 180 people attended the party and were given the opportunity to make a donation to the cause, raising £964.
Topped up with takings from craft stalls and tombolas held by Jean, the couple presented £1,325 to Feltwell Ward.
Retired lorry driver Mr Gaskins has spent time on the ward on several occasions since 1995.
He said: “We have been raising money on and off for the past 20 years – it’s something we enjoy doing. We’re just very grateful to the staff for their care and treatment.”
