Careers clinics to showcase opportunities at QEH

The wide range of careers available at QEH is being showcased to potential new recruits at two events in March.

People of all ages who are interested in learning more about a career in healthcare or supporting services are invited to two Careers Clinics, which are being held in The Inspire Centre, close to the main entrance.

The first session on Thursday 14th March will focus on non-clinical posts available, while the other session on Thursday, 21st March will centre on clinical roles. Both events run from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Anyone attending these sessions will have the opportunity to speak to staff from across the Trust to learn about the different roles and the opportunities available.

There will also  be information on the recruitment process, tips on how to give a job application the best chance of success and details of work experience, apprenticeship, volunteering and development opportunities.

Widening participation facilitator Andrea James said: “The feedback we got from previous Careers Clinics was that people really got a lot out of the event and there are scores of career opportunities at QEH.

“We’re inviting anyone to come and find out about what’s on offer and what might appeal to them.

“Whatever age you are and whatever stage of career hunting you’re at, then you’ll be made to feel very welcome and hopefully leave armed with the insight and enthusiasm to seek a career with us at QEH.”

One of the many people to have benefited from a careers insight at the Trust is 18-year-old Tom Edwards, who is on the cusp of an apprenticeship.

The QEH was able to offer him work experience in a number of different areas which helped him decide to pursue a career in nursing and he is now employed as a bank healthcare assistant.

He said: “I’m so glad I did it. I had always thought I wanted a career in healthcare but the work experience helped me focus and now I know what I’m working towards.

“I’m hoping for an apprenticeship in adult nursing with a view to becoming a registered nurse.”

Anybody wishing to attend one or both of the events is asked to give the Trust advance notification by emailing career.info@qehkl.nhs.uk. The Trust asks that attendees use public transport where possible.
