Dedicated friend gives back to hospital after seeing exceptional care and compassion given at QEH.
Darren McCarthy raised £500 for Denver Ward by running 10km a day for the entirety of August 2019.
Darren completed the 310km in thanks for the care Denver Ward staff gave his good friend Tom Read during his stay in November 2018 to February 2019.
Darren said: “I really wanted to give a little something back, the ward looked after Tom so well.”
The £500 donation will go towards specialist equipment, further staff training and the staff fund.
Tom said: “The girls on the ward made me feel so welcome, they were brilliant. I can’t thank them all enough.”
Darren also donated a further £1300 to the East of England Air Ambulance.
