There’s no obstacle too great for runner Nicky Shore when helping to improve the experience of cancer patients at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
For the Senior Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse will be participating in a 10km Fun Run for the hospital’s cancer care and treatment centre at Peterborough Showground on 28 March.
The race involves an inflatable obstacle course and Nicky is being supported in her efforts by Peterborough company Sports Booker, which specialises in booking software.
She said: “I am fundraising for the QEH Cancer Care and Treatment Centre, where I work as Senior Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse and affiliated Macmillan Professional. I felt this was an ideal opportunity to raise money to help improve patients’ experience when they attend the unit, while doing something I enjoy and will hopefully be fun.
“I have had an enthusiastic and positive response from colleagues, family and friends in respect of sponsorship and some who will join me in participating in the event.
“There is now a ‘team’ of 35 people from QEH and Sports Booker who are aiming to raise in excess of £2,500 for local people.
“So many lives, as with the teams’ members, have been affected directly or indirectly by cancer. We want to continue supporting our patients.”
