Patients and members of the local community are being encouraged to nominate staff and teams who have delivered outstanding care to patients and their families at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital for special recognition in the hospital’s 40th anniversary year.
Nominations for the hospital’s annual staff awards – called the Team QEH Awards – have launched and the team behind them are hoping to build upon the success of last year’s awards, which generated a record number of nominations for recognizing outstanding staff at the hospital.
A total of twelve awards will be presented to staff at a prestigious ceremony in November.
Among the awards is the We Care Award, which recognises an individual who provides exceptional person-centred care through listening to and understanding the needs, goals and wishes of patients, service users and their families.
Another category aims to recognise the hospital’s Clinical Team of the Year. This award will be presented to a clinical team that has gone above and beyond the call of duty, and has made an outstanding difference to patients.
The Trust is now appealing for people in West Norfolk and the surrounding area to put forward nominations.
QEH’s Chairman, Professor Steve Barnett, said: “We know that every day staff and teams across the hospital make an important difference to our patients, their loved ones and carers, many going above and beyond in their roles for those we serve.
“Last year we saw phenomenal support for our awards from the local community and I’m hoping that this year, our 40th anniversary year, will enable us to celebrate even more of our staff and the outstanding services they deliver.
“So we are now asking people in the West Norfolk, Fenland and South Lincolnshire communities to let us know about the great care they have received at QEH by nominating a staff member or team for an award so that our colleagues get the recognition they deserve.”
Other awards which will be presented during the TeamQEH Awards include Volunteer of the Year, Patient Safety Champion Award, Non-clinical Team of the Year, Leader of the Year, Growing Our Own, Behind the Scenes, We Listen, We Act and the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Innovation. These awards will be nominated by colleagues at the Trust.
If you would like to nominate a staff member for the We Care Award or one of our Clinical Teams for the Clinical Team of the Year Award go to
