Dedicated fundraiser Gavin English has received a prestigious award in recognition of his incredible work, raising £80,000 for cancer services in West Norfolk.
The Docking man was Fundraiser of the Year at the KLFM Local Hero Awards for his efforts in helping services in the area, including at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
He committed to raising money for cancer care and treatment after his late wife Frances received treatment at the hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Centre.
In February, he donated another £10,000 cheque to the Cancer Care and Treatment Fund, £600 of which was donated from a Waitrose Community Project.
His fundraising total of £80,000 equals more than £1,000 a month for six years and he is now planning more activities, including car boot sales and supermarket collections, to bring his total to £100,000.
Trust chairman Steve Barnett said: “This award is fitting recognition of Gavin’s efforts and we are exceptionally grateful for all his fundraising efforts for the Trust.
“He has worked tirelessly for cancer services in West Norfolk so I’m thrilled that his fundraising has been given the recognition it deserves.”
