Doctors, nurses, therapists, health care assistants and support staff will be swapping their scrubs for running gear this weekend as The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH) takes over the parkrun on Saturday (8 July).
The takeover is in honour of NHS75 – celebrating 75 years of the National Health Service. Team QEH staff and volunteers will be lacing up their running shoes to take part in the popular 5km event, enjoying a run, jog or walk around the picturesque route.
Runners are being encouraged to don the colour blue – or fancy dress if they are so inclined – to mark the occasion, with more than 60 staff from Team QEH expected to take part.
CEO Alice Webster will be on the start line to set them all on their merry way and cheer the brave runners on as they finish the run. Alice said: “We’re excited to be joining this fantastic community event in honour of NHS75. The Sandringham parkrun is well attended, and we know many of our staff take part on a regular basis. This is our way of showing the community a bit of Team QEH spirit and celebrating 75 years of our wonderful NHS.
“If you’re nearby on the day, please do pop along to give our runners a cheer!”
Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. The fun starts on Saturday at 9am.
The QEH has had a week of celebrating this milestone year, with activities and events across the Trust. Find out more here.
